Workday No. 38 "Tah-dah!"

We did it!

At 10 am sharp, we opened our doors for business! What a momentous day!
Family, friends, colleagues and those who simply found us on
Facebook or craigslist all came to check us out.
WOW, was it ever gratifying to see our parking lot so full! Most of our dealers have moved in and are settled in their spaces.
The rest will likely be in later this week.

The vignette booth is staged for the end of summer.
There are porch rockers, Adirondack planters, wicker and lots of
lovely things for your home and garden.
We can personally attest to the comfiness of the furniture!
Flowers from Plenty of Posies
and coffee and biscotti from Lucienne's Fine Foods heightened the already festive atmosphere.

We worked so hard for this day and here it is!

Bill and Marnie's booth

Dan and Ellen's booth
Deb and Ken's booth
Sandy's booth
From formal to funky, we are definitely NOT your mother's antique store!

We open bright and early tomorrow morning at 10am.
Come by and say hello!

Workday No. 34 " Movin' on up"

It's move-in day No. 1 and it's starting to look a lot like an antique shop around here!

Todd was the first dealer in.
He is all set up and ready to go!Looks great!

Bill brought in some cool stools,
and some great industrial pieces.Nice legs...

After wards he had a nice rest in one of Sandy's chairs. How's it sit Bill?

Our electrician was in the space all day today
running wires to all the boxes he installed yesterday.
We are most definitely wired now.
A major crisis was averted when a case of halogen light bulbs
was finally located! Let there be lighton all the great things coming into FOUND!

Now that school is in session I'll be ensconced in an ivory tower high up on south hill. I'm looking forward to moving into our spot soon! All photos in today's blog were taken by my trusty right hand man, Ken McKinney. Thank you B.

Workday No. 33 "Count Down til Opening"

T-minus five days and counting until we open our doors for business
Saturday, August 28th, 10am!!!!!
227 Cherry Street

We have a bit of work ahead of us but never fear, we'll get it done!
Today there was painting of all kinds.

On molding,
the furnace,
and on partition walls.

Our electrician was in the space all day today
putting outlets into each
and every booth.
He had with him an array of doodads that almost
rivaled the pile that came with the cases...

Tonight as I type the glass doors are being installed on the cases by Sandy and Bill. Ken is at FOUND tonight too, entering all pertinent dealer info into the POS software. We rented one more case today and had a prospective dealer tour the space for a second visit. We also had our first customers! That's right, customers. Seems our friends over at Bluebird Antiques mentioned us to one of their costumers and they came on over to check us out. We were sad not to have anything for them to buy but are overjoyed by the fact that they found us and get this, they are from out of town. I now know for sure, FOUND can be found in Ithaca.

Tomorrow our dealers can begin moving into their chosen spaces. There will be much excitement to report!

Workday No. 32 "Dealer Meeting"

We did it! We got the space all spruced up in time to meet with our wonderful new dealers this afternoon!

The weather today was far from perfect, but that didn't keep folks away! There is such positive energy and enthusiasm
for FOUND, such good community spirit around a shared passion.

Before the meeting began there was still a bit of work to do.
In fact it was so hectic I had to hire a cover photographer for today's post...
Meet our new roving reporter,
Mr. Eli! He's a natural.

Flowers were planted,
and floors were cleaned one last time
using two interesting methods!

Chairs were set out,
and a lavish spread was prepared.
There was even a little last minute tweaking to be done.(Photo by Eli)

One by one and two by two they came to tour the space and
pick out their favorite three booth spots and at the appointed time...
Sandy drew names out of a Captain America trash can
(vintage of course and fresh from a sale this morning no less!)

and away they went to claim their spot.
It was just like a really good tag sale!

Tuesday morning folks begin moving in. These are exciting times.
