Work Day Number 1 "Oh no, it's glued"

That's right, the carpet was glued to the concrete floor and we're not talking about just a squiggle or two either. It was troweled on thick and heavy and in every single nook and cranny, and it was sticky beyond belief. I believe Bill described it best -- human fly paper. After phone calls to Lowes and Home Depot yielded no glue removal advice except essentially "good luck with that", Sandy decided to call her bud over at Ithaca Stone and Tile. He thought if we were lucky the glue would be water soluble and his advice was to soak the carpet and let it sit overnight or spread newspaper, wet it and start scrapping in 10 or 15 minutes. Not wanting to waste a single second we went for option number two. We must be living right because the glue started to break down within minutes of getting wet. Is this what they mean when they talk about building a business from the ground up?It took most of the day to pull the carpet
and get a good start on scraping the glue. Advil anyone?
